Tampotryck (pad printing på engelska) inkluderar tre komponenter: tampon, färg och kliché. Klichén är gjord av ett stålmaterial med en designad etsad yta föreställande tryckmotivet. Tamponen, som vanligtvis är gjord av silikongummi, tar upp färgen från den etsade ytan på klichén för att sedan pressas mot tryckobjektets yta.
